BRAND IT BLUE DAY PROVIDED MORE THAN 55,000 MEALS

On Saturday, June 14, in communities across North America, Express Employment Professionals offices came together to serve and give back as part of the second annual Brand It Blue Day.

More than 200 Express offices, from California to North Carolina to Canada joined with 1,000 volunteers to provide more than 55,000 meals for those in need. If you were able to be a part of this amazing effort in any way, thank you for your support and hard work.

As we recently shared, volunteering and serving with a local nonprofit or charity can help youfind your next job. But giving back to your community doesn’t just impact your job search. Research shows volunteering is connected to an increase in well-being and lowered depression, both of which are often impacted by the loss of a job.

Helping others, whether it’s through serving alongside a group of volunteers on a Saturday morning, or by doing pro-bono work from your home for a nonprofit, has a positive impact on your attitude on life and hopes for your future. The London School of Economics conducted a study that found the more people volunteered, the happier they felt.

We hope that Brand It Blue Day gave you an opportunity to serve in your community,  increase your happiness, and possibly, make some new connections that will help you soon find a new job. If you didn’t have a chance to join Express for this year’s event, make sure to check back with your local office for information about Brand It Blue Day 2015 and how you can be involved.

Check out some of the photos from Brand It Blue Day events from across North America!

London Express Employment Professionals and Volunteers Help Fight Hunger

Brand it blue day, Express London came together for one great cause, to give back and help support the community who has supported us through the years.

London, Ontario, June 17, 2014 – On Saturday, June 14, Express Employment Professionals offices from California to North Carolina to Canada came together at local food banks and pantries across North America to help fight hunger – a growing epidemic that impacts millions of people in the U.S., Canada and around the world every day.

Locally, the London Express participated in the City of London’s 18th Annual London Cares Curb Hunger Food Drive. On Saturday, the Express office spent time working at local grocery stores encouraging Food Bank donations and then went to the London Food Bank to sort food. We donated more than 2,942 pounds of non-perishable food through an Express food drive which included other businesses in the London community, and the grocery stores where we gave out bags to encourage the Saturday shoppers to donate.

Brand it Blue was held on Father's Day weekend, Express encouraged everyone to involve their families to enjoy the importance of volunteering together. “Brand It Blue Day allowed the entire Express family to come together to help the communities we work and live in,” said Sharon, London Express franchisee. “Thanks to our clients and associates, we were able to help the London Food Bank fight hunger.”

As Express continues its mission to put a million people to work annually, the company will continue to volunteer and serve the community and people that support them. Because Brand It Blue Day fell on Father’s Day weekend, Express felt it was a great opportunity for families to enjoy the importance of giving back together.

“We wouldn’t be where we are today without the businesses and people who have supported us, so we’re really looking forward to giving and serving the people of London even more,” Sharon said. “And, this was a great time to bring families together and show what it looks like to give back.”

The London Express office is a franchise of Express Employment Professionals and puts people to work. In 2013, the company generated more than $2.5 billion in sales and employed nearly 400,000 people. Express Employment Professionals is the largest franchised staffing company in North America, with 36 locations in Canada.
